Lion Sid Scruggs III, a member of the Vass Lions Club in North Carolina, has been elected 2nd vice president of the International Association of Lions Clubs.

Scruggs was elected at the 91st annual international convention held in Bangkok, Thailand on June 27, 2008.

Scruggs is expected to advance to the office of international president in 2010. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service organization with more than 1.4 million members.

Scruggs has been recognized on the international level for his devotion to spreading the mission of Lionism. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest civilian award presented by the governor of North Carolina.

He previously served as international director from 2000-2002. He has held most local, district and state offices during his service to Lions Clubs.

Scruggs is married to Lion Judy Scruggs, also a member of the Vass Lions Club.

Vice President Sid L. Scruggs III, along with Past International President Jim Ervin and Campaign Chairperson Lacy Presnell, a past international director of Lions International. Ervin and Presnell served as advisors to Scruggs during his campaign for office.

Honoring The Scruggs

Lions Sid and Judy Scruggs III wave to Lions and delegates at the plenary session at the international convention. His supporters held a demonstration by marching through the aisles of the convention hall of the Impact Center in Bangkok. He was just nominated for the office of 2nd vice president of Lions Clubs International.

Celebrating His Nomination As 2nd Vice President

Lion Sid L. Scruggs III, Lion Judy Scruggs and International President Madendra Amarasuriya following the North Carolina Lion's nomination for the office as 2nd vice president of the International Association of Lions Clubs. More than 4,800 convention delegates voted Scruggs into the office on June 27, 2008 at the 91st annual international convention held in Bangkok, Thailand.
